Set your alarm to join us for the 6th annual Canning Hunger 5K and 2 Mile Walk. The event includes a competitive 5K run (3.1 mile) and 2 mile community walk for hunger. The event size may be limited so register early!

Two years ago we conducted one of the largest door to door food drives in the state. This year we aim to gather at least 30,000 pounds of food for CROSS and CEAP food shelves in Hennepin County. Save $5.00 off your entry fee by bringing a bag of food on race day!

This year's event will also benefit the Brent Doebbeling Foundation. Brent is a quadriplegic who will undergo experimental surgery. His story has received coverage by KARE-11 and several newspapers. The Brent Doebbeling Foundation exists to help quadriplegics afford surgical or other procedures to regain movement and function.

We are also pleased to partner with Charities Challenge, CC Mission: To improve health and fitness, reduce health risks, and enhance disease management through goal-oriented training programs.

Join us for the Canning Hunger 5K and 2 Mile Walk

COURSE:
The 5K Run (USATF certified 3.1 mile)is a flat "out and back" course primarily on asphalt with some gravel. It will circle the new Target campus. The walk will follow the 5K course for the first mile before returning.

INDOOR REGISTRATION & WARM UP:
Get warmed up for the event in our NEW double size gymnasium that will also serve as the registration area.

SAFETY:
Safety is our primary concern. For this reason; headphones, bicycles, in-line skates and pets will not be allowed on the course. Those with strollers should be aware that part of the course is on gravel. Traffic and course monitors will be available to assist as needed.

NEW... CASH AWARDS:
$100 BOUNTY (Cash Award) for a NEW course record - male or female. $20 gift certificates will be awarded for a NEW course record in each age group (male or female).

T-SHIRTS & AGE GROUP AWARDS:
All participants in the 5K run and 2 mile walk will receive a commemorative T-Shirt. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each age division in the 5K run.

GRAND PRIZE DRAWINGS:
Paid participants in the run or walk who are under age 18 are eligible to win the NEW BICYCLE. Paid participants in the run or walk who are 18 or older are eligible to win a 1998 CHEVY 1500 PICK UP TRUCK. The pick up is a V6 with 117K miles, auto transmission and no rust. The book value is $3,000 and is given away AS IS with no warranty. All prize winners must be present to win.

FUN RUN FOR KIDS:
A FREE half-mile Dino Dash (ages 7-12) and 100 meter Teddie Bear Trot (ages 3-6) will be held at 8:15 am. All children participating in the Kid's Runs will receive a ribbon and other prizes. Youth T-shirts will be available the day of the event for $10 each.

FAMILY/CHILDREN'S EVENTS:
The 2006 Canning Hunger 5K and 2 Mile Walk is held in conjunction with the Grace Fellowship Fall Kickoff featuring fun activities for all family members. Join us after the run or walk for a custom car show, motorcycle stunt team, LIVE KidZ Blitz event, carnival games and refreshments.
